A domain name is the name of a website, for example
www.Star-Creations.com. Your domain name needs to be
registered. There can only be one unique name for your
website in the billions of websites. The cost to register
your name is $20 for one year, $35 for 2 years, or $75
for 5 years.
What is a host
computer?
Your website must be on a host computer. I create your
website on my PC, but I don't want the thousands of
people that will use your website coming to my computer,
nor do you want them going to your computer. There are
companies with huge amounts of memory that “host”
websites. They are also called server farms. They have
layers of security that are not available on home PCs.
The cost is $20 per month, paid $60 quarterly or $240
annually.
Why have a custom
email address?
An email address that includes your website shows your
customers that you are accessable and would like to
correspond with you. Remember communication helps all
of us to satisfy the need of each other.
How do you set
up a shopping cart?
I like to use Paypal. They have the security and shopping
carts set up. You’ll need to set up a Paypal account.
It’s free to set it up. Your customers don’t
need a Paypal account to buy an item. Paypal acts as
a bank. When your customer buys an item the money is
put into your Paypal account, which you can transfer
into your bank account. Paypal sends you an email with
the item sold, the amount, the customer’s name,
address, phone and email. Paypal charges a fee; our
Paypal fee is 2.9%. That’s much less than a bank
would charge for a credit card machine.
What is Flash?
Flash is not necessarily something that moves quickly.
Flash is software that is used to create animated objects.
They are usually called Flash movies. I can use Flash
to create moving objects, objects that fade in, objects
that change. The header of the home page of Star-creations
is a Flash movie; the portfolio examples that change
on the home page is a Flash movie. Start your imagination
moving and let's see what we can dream up.
What make a
font custom?
A custom font is a font that is not included in Microsoft
Word. If you have a special font in mind, I can find
it and use it on your website.
What is included
in your Basic Search Engine Optimization?
I include the meta tag (special HTML code) information
of description, key words, and robots on every page.
I will list your website with Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask.com,
